One person died in an accident that took place at Thoranagoda, Eheliyagoda yesterday afternoon.
The person, a 33-year-old from Eheliyagoda, had arrived at a location where an accident involving a private bus and a motor cycle had taken place.While observing the scene of the accident, he had apparently attempted to hang on to a van belonging to a state institution that had been travelling towards Eheliyagoda. In the process, he had been run over by the van.
There had been six persons travelling in the van and they have been taken into custody.
Investigations are on to ascertain where there had been a clash between the person and those travelling in the van.
Police have already recorded statements from a number of eye witnesses.
