Two committees have been appointed to look into making it compulsory for seat belts to be worn in vehicles.
According to the motor Traffic Commissioner's Department, the committees will carry out a survey on vehicles being used at present and those imported anew.
This development will be applicable for vehicles in Colombo under the first phase of the programme.
“The decisions will be implemented after recommendations of the committees are received,” said the Department of Motor Traffic.
